Lundi Gras = spending the day in bed to make sure I recover well. I watched the Bachelor to catch up on my TV viewing. Doug had to work so I rested and caught up on sleep. Such a rough life.
When it was time to get ready, I did…FOR THE ORPHEUSCAPADE! I got all ready and then headed down to wait for DB and watch the parades that rolled before Orpheus.
I was defiantly overdressed for the streets of Nola…
Once doug got there, he got all tuxedo-ed up and we headed to the convention center.
We were invited by KP and Nick (awesome kids from volleyball) and they brought more awesome kids.
We really had a blast. See the following photos for the proof!
I did run into John and Jennie before we got into the ball… YAY!
My sweet date!
One of my favorite parades of Mardi Gras!!
Mayor Landrieu!
We really did make new friends at this event. I can’t wait to see them all at NORC.
DB getting into trouble…
After I took this photo, I headed to the ladies room and missed security telling DB he had to get off the float. ha.
We spent much of the night with Cynthia and Brock! I just love them.
Finally, at the end of the night, we headed back to the hotel in MUCH colder weather from the time of our arrival. I actually borrowed Cynthia’s ski jacket to get to the car. Burr!
We were home by 2:30 am and asleep by 2:35. ha! So much fun is exhausting.
The next morning was Mardi Gras Day! We got up, saw the King of Carnival (Rex) roll by and
Ironically, one of the floats was about the Boston Tea Party. I caught the above pillow and texted the photo to Alex (my bro) and Janice (his broad) who now live in Boston. You can also see the view from our hotel room of St. Charles and the Mardi Gras.
Once the truck floats started, we headed up to pack. We came back down and took this last photo with Mardi.
It was an amazing Mardi Gras. What a week! We spend the afternoon with the hotel crew and had dinner with Scott, Stephanie, Jackson, Matthew and Olivia. Finally, we headed back across town to our house. The debauchery was over. It was officially time to repent.
I hope everyone had a great Mardi Gras. I hope next year is even better.
Love and Hugs, Lizzie
